Too bad Torrey Pines High and La Jolla High were falling off the radar. It
seems the ranking criteria of US News does not reflect certain factors that
make the above two schools great! |

发帖数: 10 | 5 The demographics has been changing a lot over last 10 years in the area. The
main feeder schools to SMHS are from San Elijo Hills and Rach Carrio which
are really mid-upper class families and relative new residential community.
And to be honest, City of San Marcos and San Marcos School District have
been doing great jobs compared with other north county cities, like Carlsbad
/Encinitas. Btw, the high schools in these 3 cities (La Costa Canyon,
Carlsbad High, San Dieguito HS, SMHS) are the most competitors to each other
. But SMHS has been consistently staying on top of all in north county. Even
from other metrics (those that favor to Torrey Pine/La Jolla/Westview),
SMHS has been easily staying on top 7 in the SD county.
Hope this info helps some of you to have better understanding of the area. |

content and happy community out there. APs are not required for HS
graduation, and may not even required for some colleges. Also, if you notice
that the # of students in senior is much less than other grades, it's
because the school has just started torn down and being rebuilt except the
football field, so quite some students are transferred to Mission Hills HS,
considered a lot of activities have to be moved out to different area in the
city.
Some other data to compare SMHS vs Torrey Pine/La Jolla/Westview is to look
at the ranking in the same demographic schools. Even with absolute API, SMHS
is at same level as Westview, not even mention that SMHS shouldn't be
compared with Westview/Torrey Pine at all!

this is a bad school. I was planning to rent a place in good school district
when my kid is going to high school. Now it seems I need to change my plan,

那些都不读书的中学也是一样的。 所以好中学的人除非到了top 10%,
否则是要花很大力气靠加洲大学的。
