Science at a Right Time
Dr. Miao will speak on his successful experience in startup, R&D focus and
business strategy at Concortis Biosystems Corporation, a biotech leveraging
proprietary cytotoxic payloads and site-specific conjugation technologies
for novel antibody drug conjugates (ADCs). These new technologies improve
the consistency of the drug to antibody ratio, resulting in a homogeneous
ADC drug product, and ultimately may help unlock the full therapeutic
potential of the current generation of ADCs. Their scientific success led
to the acquisition of Concortis by Sorrento Therapeutics in December, 2013.
Speaker: David (Zhenwei) Miao, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer and
Cofounder of Concortis Biosystems Corp.
Dr. Miao has more than 15 years of biotech experiences in both small
molecule drug and biotherapeutics discovery and development. He started
Concortis as an ADC (antibody-drug conjugate) specialty company dedicated to
helping customers and partners develop next generation antibody-based
therapeutics. Prior to Concortis, Dr. Miao was at Ambrx Inc. and Enanta
Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Miao holds a B.S. in chemistry from Nankai University
and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Peking University.
