现在的行情大概是北加85k或者南加80kfor fresh PhD。楼主在LA，如果80k就还不错（
如果是IT的还要高些）。但是现在opening不是很多，可以先积累经验过1，2年再跳得

places in US now offer salaries not far from bay area, but the tax and
housing are much better than here.

California doesn't re-appraisal each house' value every year for property
tax. Old people just hold on to their home and not want to sell even their
income is far behind what their house value implies otherwise. The supply-
demand curve is in favor of sellers. Combined with limited land supply,
most communities in bay area has higher house prices, but worse schools
and facilities when compared to other States.
