Hedge Fund Associate – Mill Valley, Ca (Marin County, just north of San
Francisco)
Lawndale Capital Management is an 18-yr Mill Valley-based activist hedge
fund manager specializing in domestic value-style small/micro-cap equity and
distressed debt investments seeking to grow its AUM through both
performance and new capital. In planning for our growth we seek an
individual desiring in a small entrepreneurial setting to work directly with
firm’s President/Portfolio Manager conducting the full range of fund
management activities:
* intensive fundamental research and interacting with company
managements
* interfacing with firm's brokerage, outside fund administrator,
accountant and legal teams
* assisting President with trading, performance calculation and analysis
, regulatory compliance and administration
* assist in investor and prospect communications and marketing.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
* Candidate must be comfortable in a fast-paced small firm
entrepreneurial environment;
* Candidate must be highly organized and comfortable with performing
concurrent tasks and with shifting priorities;
* A degree in business, accounting or finance and/or passed CFA Level 1.
* Expertise in Excel and Word, working knowledge of Bloomberg and other
investment databases, and substantial internet research skills
* Ideal candidate will have up to 3 years of applicable work experience
in investment, credit, banking and/or accounting (This is entry level
position)
This is an excellent entry level position to learn the workings of a fund
manager. Initially screened candidates should be prepared to send a one page
write up each of both a long idea consistent with Lawndale’s investment
strategy and a short idea applicable to one of Lawndale's publicly disclosed
portfolio companies. Compensation would include base salary plus
performance-based bonuses.
