工作1:某小软件公司(display ads) 高级工程师,处理大型数据(Hadoop)

3417 | 5 2 is the best choice, in my opinion, considering you already have 10+ years
experience.
1. I think Groupon is going to IPO very soon, likely earlier than facebook.
How long do you plan staying in this company before going there.
3. Like others said, if it doesn't provide a much better package, not worth
it.

t*********e 发帖数: 1136 | 15 It is hard to say which one is better without knowing your own background.
Do you have kids? Does your wife work? How is your family economical
situation? Do you have a lot of mortgage? How is your math skill set? etc.,
etc.
If you have a lot of money in the bank and a lot of other assets, you can
afford to take a lot of career risk and try new things. Otherwise I'm afraid
you have to think carefully about the downside, about the what-if situation
when things do not work out, because you have responsibilities (sigh).
I have a feeling that you may not be suitable for management positions, and
you do not have a pro-active risk-taking founder's mentality (yet). But you
have fantastic technical skills. If this assumption is correct, I think 1 is
a better choice.
Of course since you do have great technical skills, any choice is going to
be fine even in the worst case, because you can always find another job.
Technical skills are hard currency. Great engineers are always in demand.
Just my wild guess. |
s**********4 发帖数: 59 | 16 What you have guessed are mostly correct. I have a family with kids. My wife
is working but her single pay can not pay our expense. However, we are
living a simple life so that we can support our family so long as we both
have work.
I was good at math in my college, but do not use them in the last ten years.
The 2nd job is not a quant job, but it requires understanding their model.
I think the learning curve will be steep, but I shall be able to handle it
so long as I devote time.
The problem is quant jobs are facing more and more serious oversupply. As
someone has pointed out, it is no longer a more profitable path than
software engineers in Google/Netflix/Amazon, not to mention those in hot pre
-ipo ones. |
