sphere of influence partly overlaps with that of the Phoenicians (also sea
traders). Overall, civilizations in the Middle East exerted more influence
on ancient Europe.
Due to geographic proximity, the Minoans civilization can be considered a
precursor of ancient Greece (similar to what China is to Japan), but you can
't even find as much relationship between Greece and Rome.
