For a good fresh PhD, MSFT gives much better offers than this one.
For this Amazon PhD offer, the bonus is 80k over 4 years (35k cash for
the
first 2 years and 45k stocks for 4 years.) The total compensation for
the
first 4 year is average 120k per year. I believe during these 4 years
you
won't get other bonus than sign on cash and stock bonus.
I recently know a MSFT PhD offer (L61): 115k base, 60k sign on stock (5
years). MSFT actually has cash and stock bonus each year. Assume the
performance is just average, it will be 10% cash bonus and 6k stock for
L61.
Totally, it leads to 115k+12k+11.5k+6k=144.5k per year. No to mention
MSFT
has better benefits.
