FYI
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The district has decided on the schools that will offer Chinese for
Heritage Speakers. The program will be offered at both Piedmont Hills high
school and Evergreen Valley High School. The program at these two schools
will only be open to students whose home school is Piedmont Hills or
Evergreen Valley.
Intra-district transfers to these schools to participate in the Chinese
language program will not be approved. However to accommodate other Chinese
speakers in the district, we will also open a Chinese for heritage speakers
program at Mt. Pleasant High School. Students at other schools can apply for
an intra-district transfer to Mt. Pleasant if they want to participate in
this program. The program will open at Mt. Pleasant next year pending
student interest. So we will run the program if we get a class full of
students who transfer and or sign up for the course at Mt. Pleasant. I have
attached information in a document for you to give to the community
explaining where the program will be housed and how they can sign their
students up for the course. It also explains the intra-district transfer
process. We have put a deadline on the intra-district transfer requests of
March 16th. This will allow us to gauge the extent of the program and
teacher need.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask! We are starting to really
move along now!
especially the Opium War I and II as well. They could tell them what the
Western World have done to China in Beijing in 1900 |
