Dear Senator Lee,
Hope you are doing well! As a father of a little girl and a voter at North
Bay, I am writing to you regarding the SCA-5 act. I noticed you voted this
unfair act recently. Of course I respect your decision but my community and
group like to hear your consideration toward this act. As you know
currently a lot of Chinese communities cross the whole California are
extremely concerning this bill; they are calling,emailing and meeting local
assembles or senators . The reason we opposite this act is very simple, it
will exclude our kids' fair opportunity to receive better high education.
This is discrimination to all Asia population.
Both You and me graduated from UC, perhaps you also agree our kids deserve
the equal right and opportunity in college admission . But SCA-5 seeks to
repeal provisions of Prop 209 and allow the State of California to
discriminate an individual or group's rights for getting public education on
the basis of race, sex, and ethnicity. I strongly believe that racial
preference on some races in college admission is racial discrimination on
others. It also violates the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth
Amendment.
We strongly urge you to listen our votes' voice, use your power and
influence to stop this Act. This is for our kids and we will fight for
freedom and fairness forever.
