Canada) the historical existence of "Chinatown" stemmed directly from
earliest exclusionistic racism that compelled the Chinese immigrants to
gather in places where their own lived, being barred from living anywhere
else, barred from working anywhere else, buying food from anywhere else,
eating anywhere else, etc. to find shelter, work, basic living needs, and it
was a form of social ghettoing by racist (anglo-euro-latin) caucasians. so,
"Chinatown" today, in reality, is a sad kind of monumental reminder of
racism of xenophobic 'othering' hate that lingers today deep within American
/Canadian culture, common in every big or small cities, against all Chinese,
immigrant or local born, and such hate has permeated in private learnt from
constant popular public negative stereotypes bombarding everyone from
content perpetuated by and in hollywood/media/publishing world here in North
America. (if Black Africans were as severely excluded from inclusion/
assimilation as the Chinese were, they would have had Africatowns in every
city/town where everyone only spoke "African", and always treated as "
foreign" by non-African descended anglo-euro-latin caucasians,meven if the
black person was born here many generations)
hopefully, Americans of all colors realize oppression/exclusionistic racism
of past generations needs constant reminders to keep in check, or these
ghettos of current exclusionism/racism will legitimately remain as part of
American/Canadian xenophobic denial. how often does one ever see in American
/Canadian hollywood movies, tv shows, fictional work, show ANY non-Chinese (
and other non-East Asians) have English speaking Chinese folks born American
/Canadian with NO foreign accent as 'friends'? 'lovers'? (not just a 'east-
asian background non-speaking non-inxluded prop' hired as an unnamed extra,
nor just a 'secondary non-primary' character (aka: relegated side-kickitians
)) to anglo-euro-latin caucasian Americans or black african Americans? Never
. Name one main/hero/romantic lead, in any decade or century. So, far, there
are none; a result of the same exclusionistic racism mentality that remains
widespread today in spite of naive denials of post-racism. she even had
ignorant tourist cheering her. is Europe still like this? well, do they have
similar "east-asian-towns" like they do here? only they know. guten tag,
