我收到不少网友的邮件，他们都想知道如何安装security system (Do It Yourself,
DIY), 所以，我写上这一贴。我会抽空拟一个device清单供大家参考。
1. Equipment
It totally depends on how much you want to spend, but a very basic home
security system should includes the following:
1) A control console
2) A motion sensor
3) one or more door/window sensors
optionally, you can have:
4) An alarm device
5) Additional motion sensors
6) A Wi/Fi IP camera
7) Home automation devices
2. Installation
1) Look through your house, decide where you want to install those sensors.
Please note, the control console should be placed in the place where the
signals of sensors can travel directly to it, with less walls or obstacles.
In addition, the control console should be close to a phone jack. You can
first install the basic system, and can add more sensors later on.
2) Setup the control console.
I forgot to mention that actually the control console itself has an alarm
capability which will make big noise when the security system is triggered.
2.0) read instruction completely
2.1) put battery inside the console
2.2) register your control console remote control so that you can use the
remote control to arm/disarm the security system
2.3) test the remote control by pushing the arm and disarm buttons
2.4) register your key-chain control console remote control for the same
reason
2.5) test the key-chain remote control by pushing the arm and disarm buttons
3) Install door/windows sensors
3.0) read instruction completely
3.1) Use strews or double-side tapes to install the devices on the doors/
windows. Note, usually they should be installed at top of the door/windows,
and it will be nice if they are hidden from people's view
3.2) insert batteries to the sensors
3.3) register the sensor to the control console
3.4) test the sensor by opening the door/window
3.5) when the security system make big noise, use remote control to disarm
it and clear the status.
4) Install motion sensor
4.0) read instruction completely
4.1) insert batteries to the sensor
4.2) place the sensor downward so that its sensor does not detect anything
while you register the sensor.
4.3) register the sensor to the control console
4.4) place the motion sensor to a test place and let it stay for a while
4.5) walk towards that motion sensor purposely, test to see if it triggers
the security system
4.6) when it works, install it to a hidden place on the wall where people
most likely will walk through, but hard to reach to it before it is
triggered.
5) Register your phone numbers
5.0) Based on the steps in the manual, register your phone numbers to the
control console.
5.1) connect a phone line between the control console and a phone jack
5.2) Open a door/window that has sensor installed to trigger the system,
when it alarms, wait to see if the system calls you.
