l****n 发帖数: 6896 | 1 I finally finished watching the 2nd season of TV series 24. Regretfully to
say, it's been somewhat disappointing for me.
The main reason for my disappointment is there's too much politics, power
struggles, and betrayals in the story. As the story goes, there is always
conflict of interests inside the CTU, inside the President's OC, between the
President and his cabinet, and even between the President and his ex-First
Lady. I'd say the audience spent 50% of the time watching how these people
look over their shoulders, talk in a secretive way, or play tricks to or be
played tricks by others. For example, Tony and Michelle have to work behind
Ryan's back in order to support Jack; Carrie always peeks around Michelle
and the latter has to find ways to avoid her watchful eyes; and not to
mention that Mike works behind the President's back.
Yes, there is a lot of trust and support from the President, Tony, and
Michelle for Jack, but other than that, I don't see a lot of positive bond
that's essential to any successful team. I just see them cheat one another,
work behind other people's backs, or hide his/her agenda from one another.
Pretty grim, pretty sad.
For me, I'd like to, once in a while, see some brotherhood, some
unconditional trust and loyalty. Such positive and encouraging sentiment
could wash away the conspiratorial atmosphere haunting every scene in the
series. (Notice how the lighting is always dim and dark in the CTU? How
people always look around when they speak? And how they always talk in a
very soft voice as if eavesdropping is everywhere?)
I know that it's crucial to keep the tension there as the story develops. So
the producer has to create some drama to keep the audience interested. And
no drama is better than one hates another, one tries to set up another, ...
But there is too much of this kind of shit in the story. I don't like it.
They tried too hard. It would be better if they can turn down a knotch or
two.
Hope season 3 is better. | W********1 发帖数: 5019 | | l****n 发帖数: 6896 | 3 习惯晚睡。今晚有没有夜猫子包啊?

whole season. however, you can sense the maturity of its crew, the savviness
of story making, and smoothness of characters development by its leading
actors in later seasons starting at session 5.
