标 题: Chinese buyers buying more Singapore homes

By Chinese, we mean Mainland Chinese buyers. They have been rather active in
the property market, accounting for almost 30% of private home purchases
made by foreigners, or around 8% of total private units sold. Not surprising
really, we did mention the Chinese factor before.
The number of units bought by the Chinese surged from a mere 100 units to
almost 650 units from the period of May to June. These units are used as
holiday homes, but it's not unusual for them to buy a few private homes for
investment purposes. Furthermore, the local market isn't as volatile as that
of China, which means that the Chinese prefer to put their money on our
shores.
And we are talking about big money here. The Chinese made up nearly half the
number of private homes sold in Q2 that cost $1.5m or more. In contrast,
Singaporeans bought 75% of units that cost $500,000 or less in the same
quarter.
Wow! Looks like their wallets have gotten bigger and bigger! Singapore is
really the safe haven for Chinese money!
