Talented starlet Neymar has revealed his opinion that Lionel Messi is the
best player in the world, and added that he dreams of playing Champions
League football one day.
The 19-year-old Brazil international is continually being linked with sides
such as Chelsea, Juventus and Real Madrid, with the latter allegedly
launching a 1m bid for the player, but he is not expected to make a
decision on his future until after the Copa America in July.
In an interview with AS, Neymar discussed his favourite clubs and also spoke
about the rivalry between Barcelona’s Messi and Real Madrid ace Cristiano
Ronaldo.
He endorsed the Argentine as the finest talent in the game at this current
time, stating: “Real Madrid and Barcelona are my favourite European teams.
I really like those two teams.
【“I like both Messi and Ronaldo, but at this moment, Messi is without
doubt the best player in the world. However, Cristiano is a great player as
well. He is a very complete attacker.”】
The attacker also admitted that a move to European football does not hold
any trepidation for him, continuing: “I have no fear of anything, so I am
not afraid to move to Europe. I am not learning Spanish, because I already
understand most of it. I am learning English, though.
“All players in the world dream of playing in the Champions League and so
do I. It would be a privilege to play in this competition and I hope to do
just that at some point.”
Neymar’s focus will lie on the second-leg of the Copa Libertadores for now;
Santos drew the first match against Penarol 0-0, and will be keen to decide
the tie at home on Wednesday.
The prodigious star is looking forward to the encounter, concluding: “I am
very happy at the moment. Not just for myself, but for everybody at the club
. The road to the final was very long and we have 90 minutes left where
everything can happen. I am very focused and will do my utmost to get the

Diego Maradona has said Santos striker and Real Madrid target Neymar is rude
just like Pele after his recent comments regarding Barcelona's Lionel Messi.
Neymar claimed he could become better than Messi by playing at Santos, Pele'
s former club, suggesting there is no need to leave Brazil to be the best,
despite being linked with Barca's bitter rivals.
And Maradona, on the eve of the 25th anniversary of his 'Hand of God' goal
against England in the 1986 World Cup, has hit back in his unique style.
The former Argentina national team coach slammed Neymar's remarks, and took
the opportunity to hit out at Brazilian legend Pele.
"Neymar is bad mannered, like Pele," the Al Wasl coach told TVE.
"Messi is an exceptional player and I doubt anyone can separate him [from
being the best]." |
