有的排名并非绝对，每年都有情况变化，但总的来看40名以内都是公认的名校。
而我个人认为的TOP10是这样的：
1 Chicago, Berkeley, Harvard, UCLA
这四所都非常好，不分上下。
其中Chicago是每个申请者的梦想，如果想做定性研究而不是沉迷于数字，那么Berkeley
是天堂，Harvard不用说了，是现代功能主义的发源地，2003又引进了几个文化研究方面
的牛教授，更强了。UCLA整体实力极强，在社会理论等领域都有名教授。
2 Princeton, Stanford, UMich-Ann Arbor, Columbia, North Carolina-Chapel Hill
，Wisconsin-Madison
这几所属于第二梯队，各有千秋。
其他学校比这TOP10略逊一点，但也绝对是牛校，能去都是很不错的。

Stanford is rather strong but the dept. is relatively small. Northwestern.

Then is like UPenn, Indiana, Texas-Austin(?).
Harvard and UCLA definitely not even close to these schools. Chicago is in
decline. I think number one should be UNC. From your comment, it is obvious
that you received a sociology degree from China, otherwise you won't place
UCLA and Harvard in such high positions. Too young, too naive.

发帖数: 8648 | 11 没有必要说别人naive。我觉得，做学术的，对这些排名都不应该太热衷，一来现在
faculty经常流动，二来这种prestige的power game，恐怕我们应该有所察觉和刻意远
离。
而且看排名，大家总喜欢按照自己的研究方向来定夺是否合理，这都是在所难免。但作
为做社会学的，总应该有点reflexivity吧？从排名中看出游戏规则，也就罢了，硬把这个
当回事情，就有些过了。

Treiman, etc., just as I have no idea what the guys you listed are doing (
except Mark Grannvettor and Michael Hannan). No surprise there...
