Feb 28th, Switching between Entrepreneur and Professional Manager
Many would‐be entrepreneurs have good jobs and a steady income to support
their families and loved ones. While being an entrepreneur is a tempting
value proposition, there is no guarantee that a start‐up will pan out. What
are the options for the professional‐turned‐founder if the startup fails.
What is a good strategy and process for switching back and forth between
entrepreneurship and a “9 to 5” job?
This presentation will address the following issues:
· Entrepreneur or Enterpriser
· Career Development Diagram
· Opportunity cost
· Self‐Discovery process to understand who you really are (strengths and
weaknesses, likes and dislikes, self-motivation and values)
· Articulating, building and accumulating your own brand, core assets and
skills
· Strategy for building a sustainable and transferable life‐skills
portfolio
· Developing your core skills – Depth vs. Breath
· Controllable and Uncontrollable variances impacting your career
· Managing your changing needs and expectations over time
· Building your network and not burning any bridges
Time: 2/28/2012 (Tue) 6:30-8:30pm
Location: Room 1E-112, Bellevue City Hall
Cost: Free for SEC members
Agenda:
· 6:30-7:00pm Check in and Social
· 7:00-8:00pm Lecture and Q&A
· 8:00-8:30pm Close-up
