U of maryland 学校好，数学系好 但统计却排不上什么，但统计竟然是在数学下面的。
请问知情者透露下 U of maryland 的统计好申吗 我是转专业的 想先申硕 春季

Master program if you ask for NO support from the
department. I "heard" that the STAT program in Columbia
enrolls dozens of self-supported Master students every
year.
And from my 2 cent, if you don't plan to work as a
Mathematical Statistician, I will suggest you considering
something else like School of Public Health. |

You would have the option to go more applied, but I believe
it will lean towards theoretical first.

不过录取要求貌似很高的说, 记得GRE V要600多才行,并不好申啊.

发帖数: 55 | 9 I have no idea how V600 means in GRE now, done with that
crap for a long long time.
But again, judging from the current economic situation,
I don't think there are many quota for support, maybe more
true in public university, so even an outstanding academic
record can get you nowhere.
If you can support yourself, get it started with a master
and switch/tranfer when you see a better option.

发帖数: 98 | 15 我也准备申请马大的STAT, 和系的秘书通了几次信，问了一些问题，她说最好能考个数
学的SUB，我吓了一跳，我是转专业的，肯定不可能考。当然她说SUB是recommmeded,
不是required，但是我想问如果SUB 不考，会对以后的admisstion有影响吗？
