because his fame really came from the hyper-reaction from a stupid
government. He didn't really influence as many Chinese.
But now, to me, that empty chair represents a reward to a group of people
who are meaningfully pushing China forward, including him.

deserve it. It's not a big deal anyway. I don't agree with some of his
culture suicide opinion but I do think TG is clumsy at dealing with him.

| s********u 发帖数: 1054 | 5 刘在1980年代在知识分子和大学生里面还是很有影响的。 1989以后被TG彻底封杀, 期间蒙混过关发表了一本比较一般的文学评论著作, 美人赠我蒙汗药 (以老侠为笔名和王溯的对话的那本书)。 我以前对王溯印象不怎么好, 觉得就是一玩主。 后来知道王在刘落难时帮刘出书,把稿酬全部让给了刘, 才知道王也也这么豪爽仗义的一面。
我第一次接触刘的著作是 中宣部发表的“抓住黑手刘晓波”的附录里作为黑材料收录的刘的反动言论。 记得作为反动论述引用的有“ 混世魔王毛泽东”的一些言论。 当时我已经隐约觉得毛不怎么对了, 但那时根本没刘认识的那么深刻。读到刘犯禁的言论,觉得既新鲜,又开眼界。
再后来在旧书摊淘书时1元人民币买了刘的早期著作“审美和人的自由”。 现在来看, 里面的很多观点在学理上面未必站的住脚。 但是当时书里表达的那种毫不妥协的反传统精神给我的冲击现在还记忆犹新。
后来在美国念博士的大学图书馆中文藏书特别丰富。 又读了刘的 一个末日幸存者的自白。
你要是比较刘在“审美和人的自由”的激愤,和他去年在法庭“我没有敌人”的辩护词里的谦卑, 会有判若两人的感觉。89以后的21年,刘在TG的监狱里和监视居住中,从一个文坛黑马愤青一步步成长成为一位甘地,马丁路德金 , 曼德拉这个伟大传统里面的人道主义者。
