Carlyle Group launches company that will buy shipping assets
The Carlyle Group said it was forming a company that will work to acquire
more than $5B in container, dry bulk, tanker vessels and other shipping
assets to capitalize on what it sees as increasing demand in the shipping
sector. Carlyle, which is partnering with several other entities to launch
the new company, said the venture would commence business immediately and
expects to deploy up to $900M in equity capital during the next five years.
