发帖数: 17328 | 19 金子的低价是央行出多少钱买，而不是买多少，央行从来不急着买卖黄金除非经济有问
题，央行没有performance的问题。金价的上限是散户出多少钱买（包括Paulson这样的
）。我以前讲过，如果金价在一段时期内不持续上升那么散户或fund就会抛弃黄金而选
择其他投资方式。比如，Paulson有20-30%的钱在黄金上，拥有25%的GLD，如果金价不
涨，那么Paulson的performance就不会很好，时间长了，就有压力，要把拖后腿的金子
换掉，否则，Paulson会失去客户，意味着Paulson要卖掉assests给客户钱，结果还是
得卖GLD。如果一旦下降趋势形成你就得等下一波上升了，overall performance不一定
会高过其他资产。 |

Why the central banks all over the world use gold as one of the reserve?
As long as all the central banks use gold as the reserve, gold is precious.
If china and japan in war, if us default on debt(or just printing more money
) the gold will soar.
The reason gold is down these days is because people are buying more stock
and consider US economy will recover good and inflation will be low for a
while. However, from a long term view, I do not buy this opinion. Gold will
be up when debt ceiling comes.

what they trade, currencies just a medium. When Soros trade currencies, do
you think he cares if it it is fiat or gold?
for regular people, the purchasing power is what we care, as long as it can
maintain the purchasing power. it does not matter if it is fiat or gold.

if people hold fia currencies, what's strange for holding gold?

so you are on my side too. gold beats any fiat currencies on maintaining
its purchasing power over the long run. I guess I don't need to give

currencies devalue with inflation. however, there are many asset classes,
gold is not the only choice and not always the best choice either.

be considered as one investment class, the so-called "dead assets" from LZ,
as neither of them gives a yield (interest rate is next to nothing now).
I was only giving LZ a perspective to understand the question he had.
Not generating a cash flow should not be the reason not to play gold.
That's it. If you can't understand the simple logic, stop wasting time
on this issue.
There are plenty of cash flow plays that I am enjoying. Check my posts on
investment board on MLPs. My play of NTI and ALDW is giving me 20-30%
yield (will vary quarter to quarter though) and nice capital gains too.
