Tesla CEO Elon Musk will visit Brazil to agree on the possible construction
of a North American automaker's factory in the country.
As Tesmanian reported yesterday, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is in
the US on his fourth visit since his election in 2019. As part of this trip,
he was to meet with representatives of Tesla. Bolsonaro is committed to
strengthening trade and investment ties with the United States.
According to local media, the agenda of the President of the Republic called
for a meeting with Musk this weekend in Miami, but since Tesla CEO cannot
come there and Bolsonaro cannot change his schedule in the US, the meeting
will take place in Brazil.
Information that Musk will come to Brazil came from his office. It was
handed over to Federal MP Daniel Freitas, an international affairs
consultant at the Department of Science, Technology, Innovation and
Communications. As early as Thursday, March 5, Tesla’s employees informed
the Brazilian government of Musk’s desire to visit them in Brazil.
The date of the visit has not yet been set, but according to the
parliamentarian Santa Catarina, who is directly connected with the
negotiations, Musk's visit is "good news and makes this topic even stronger.
" He explains that negotiations are ongoing at the federal level and are
evaluated in the office of Minister Pontes and on the recommendation of the
President of the Republic.
Upon returning from the US, a team from the Department of Science,
Technology, Innovation and Communications will focus on the strategy that
will be adopted to bring Tesla to Brazil.
The Santa Catarina region has great expectations. The municipality of Crici
úma, in the south of the state, wants to claim the location of the plant in
its territory. Santa Catarina, where companies such as BMW, General Motors,
Embraco, WEG are located, has various socio-economic characteristics and a
higher level of development.
It should be noted that Brazil is in 7th place among the countries with the
highest concentration of lithium. A large percentage of the metal used
primarily for glass and batteries is available in the Minas Gerais area.
That is why, first of all, Brazil can be really interesting for Tesla and
its future plans. | c*****r 发帖数: 1491 | |
