(1) The first thing I did after reading your posting is go to web site of US
State Department. This is the page about Taiwan.

The page only refers to another page, which in turn requires the inquireer
to contact emabssay or consulates of the nation you want to go to.
(Nor doe sthe web site of American Insititute in Taiwan (AIT, equivalent to
US embassy in Taiwan) provide ANY information in this regard.)
