quite light and oversize. The frame gave out a loud noise when I was hitting
a backhand topspin yesterday during a game.
Looks like that I would need to buy two more racquets now. Friends suggested
that I should buy something heavier and even balanced. Any suggestions? |

I do occassionally leave them in the car, but I have a thermo-protection bag
and my car is in garage both at home and at work. So that might not be as
bad.

head heavy vs head light
oversize vs midplus
10.x oz vs 11.2 oz

W*N 发帖数: 1354 | 16 I realized that my previous racket was too light and too head heavy. People
say that it can cause tennis elbow which I have right now. So looking for
some heavier racket that is head light.
Also I heard that I need to switch to a smaller racket once I pass the
beginner stage.
Are those assessments correct?
How does 16*19 differ from 18*20? What kind of effect will that have?

K****D 发帖数: 30533 | 17 I have played with both TT bandit and LM Radical.
Head heavy and light is almost the same thing. A heavy racket is almost
always head light.
What you heard is correct. If you use SHBH, having a heavy racket is
almost a must. Using heavy racket, you will swing faster than before
but with lower accuracy. You serve faster and with more errors. Your
forehand is more powerful but can't defend as well as before. Your
volley will be crap.
18*20 is denser, so it's harder to spin but easier to control.

W*N 发帖数: 1354 | 18 Hmm, thanks. So which one do you like better?
I am a combined ground stroke and serve-n-volley style. My current serve is
very unstable. And I do use SHBH.
I am a little confused about the string density and spin. I also play table
tennis. The rule there is the larger the contact area, the more friction/
spin you can generate. So that is not the case for badminton rackets?

g*****y 发帖数: 7271 | 19 I never used TT bandit before. But compared with other lighter head-heavy OS
rackets I tried, LM radical has less power and requires full swing in
ground strokes. I tried those lighter rackets after I am used to Radical,
they are too powerful and almost every ball landed long in first several
minutes.
For defense shot, you need to get prepared as early as possible. If you don'
t have time to swing the racket, there is no way to generate good defense
shots anyway. Another thing, if you tried slic

g*****y 发帖数: 7271 | 20 Even for table tennis, you should be able to generate more spin when you use
softer sponge or blade because it allows the ball to stay longer on the
racket.
Tennis is the same. Given that everything else is the same, dense string and
smaller head size give you less deformation and shorter contact time, hence
less spin. Of course, different string property (e.g., softer or gauge or
so on) will affect how much spin too.

K****D 发帖数: 30533 | 21 I used Radical after using TT, so you can imagine which one I like better,
hehe.
The more 稀疏 the string is, the bigger the 网眼 is, and thus the more
effectively that the racket "bites" on the ball at contact (the ball sinks
into the 网眼).
If you can't serve well using TT, probably don't expect you can serve better
using the Radical, hehe. It's harder to do topspin. Radical does increase
your serve speed though.

K****D 发帖数: 30533 | 22 TT Bandit is one of the better OS rackets I used. Other than too light and
OS, the racket is actually not bad, very balanced.
Radical has a very small sweet spot. If you hit the ball off the sweet spot,
it feels quite aweful -- almost no pop. That's why in my experience OS
rackets beat MP rackets in volleys.
I like Radical majorly due to the fact that I can swing the racket head
faster. With an OS racket face like TT bandit, it's very hard to swing
fast, esp. on the backhand side -- I feel a lot

TT bandit OS was also my racquet before I got tennis elbow. TT bandit OS is
a good racquet for its price, but it can cause tennis elbow. The first thing
I did after I got tennis elbow was selling my two TT racquets and buying
two babolat's.
You will feel the effect right away: you will never lose any games because
you have a bad racquet:-) It may take a long time to

b*****t 发帖数: 758 | 27 It needs a lot adjustment. I am still adjusting after almost half a year.
Not sure if it is becuase the balance or the racquet overall. You do need to
swing differently with Babolat APD to take full advantage of the racquet.
But you can feel right away that you are playing with a good solid racquet
even though you may mis-hit a lot at the beginning.
