(HOUSTON, TX) - On the six month anniversary since the Sun family was found
murdered in its Cypress-area home, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office is
reminding the public that information is still being sought in the case as
the murderer(s) remains at large and the $70,000 reward still stands.
Sheriff Adrian Garcia, HCSO investigators, and community partners held a
news conference Wednesday afternoon to discuss the continuing efforts of
HCSO homicide investigators, Sgt. Felipe Rivera and Deputy Abraham Alanis,
to find justice for the Sun family.
“There is something hideous, something horrible, when someone has it within
them to murder two innocent children,” Sheriff Garcia said.
According to investigators Maoye Sun, his wife Mei Xie, and their two boys,
Titus and Timothy were murdered in their home at 14015 Fosters Creeks Drive
in northwest Harris County between the late hours of January 24, 2014 and
the morning of January 25. Their bodies were not found until January 30 when
deputies were asked to conduct a welfare check.
The Sheriff also had a message for the person(s) responsible. “I hope that
the faces of these two children are burning so strongly in your minds that
the only place you will find comfort and refuge will be behind the bars of
our county jail,” he said holding up a photo of the Sun family.
HCSO investigators have turned every stone, including working with several
law enforcement agencies across the country, such as the FBI. But Sheriff
Garcia pointed out that the key may lie in the community and asked for the
public’s help to bring closure to such a horrific tragedy.
“We are all in it together. We are asking for your support, your confidence
, to come forward with any information you may have of that day six months
ago,” said Sheriff Garcia.
Billboards reading "WHO KILLED THE SUN FAMILY? $70,000 REWARD", along with a
photo of the Suns, appear throughout the Houston-area and across the state.
Clear Channel Outdoor has donated the billboard space for the last six
months to keep the message alive.
Anyone with information related to this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers
of Houston at 713-222-TIPS, the HCSO’s Homicide Division at 713-967-5810,
or via the iWatchHarrisCounty phone app.
