Hero $180
Villain $200ish, tight player
Preflop, 2 ppl limp, villain at SB raised to 12, hero at BB called with A9
clubs, one limp called.
Flop Q 9 3, two clubs(Q 3). vallain lead out $20, only hero called.
Turn A, vallain bet $35
what's the best play for hero?
1.fold
2.call
3.min-raise to $70
4.raised to other amount
5.all in
Please explain why. thanks | f*****g 发帖数: 15860 | 2 i guess mini-raise is good.
preflop $12 can be anything.
flop $20 is ok for a $36+ pot but still kind of weakish.
turn $35 is weak too.
can't believe he really likes Q93 flop and then A turn, how many hands fit
this? (all the way)
if he calls, he has to call most of the rivers too due to the odds/stack
sizes, or so called leverage play by harrington.

river.

shove or call for me. Prefer just call here. Fold is not an option here,
obv. Raising on the turn will pretty much keep better hand in/shove and
worse hand to fold, plus it takes all his bluff/thin value bet range away.
Maybe min raise works well against absolute fish.

| g******s 发帖数: 211 | 5 anything but fold. I may just call the turn and prepare shove on the river. | H****r 发帖数: 2801 | 6 I'd just call maybe 80% of the time. Min-raise sometimes.
Shove only works if villain is willing to go allin with something like AK.
Min-raise might squeeze alittle more money from tight player. However hero
also want to see the river lolz. Plus there's still some chance that villain
got some monster @@

| W********m 发帖数: 7793 | | f*****g 发帖数: 15860 | 8 let me guess:
hero actually shoved on the turn, with two pair+flush draw, facing a bet,
few ppl would be disciplined to not shove here (for the stack sizes too).
but villain snap called with AK (like any "good" 1/2 player would do).
however, river was a K or Q, hero got counterfeited.
now in retro, hero is second guessing whether he should call turn and re-
evaluate on the river, or "potentially" lose less if K or Q falls, or win
more if club shows and villain cannot lay down.

| | | r*******s 发帖数: 94 | 11 agree,those are the hands a tight player would raise to $12 from SB...most
likely a set, he would bet more with AA or AQ
I would raise the flop, take the control

for the result, i am with windstormmmmm. a tight player has QQ/AA here. a
lot of them won't even open AQ on SB.

<1% low stake live players, TAG or LAG, would play top 2 like this, and then
lay down here. if he's really that good, you won't be playing with him, i
mean, he would have moved up. discipline is #1 leak. i said <1%, actually,
just try to be "objective".
never listen to any of these "i laid down a monster" BS unless you actually
see one hand. to be honest, even i myself talk like this 95% of times,
without even "preparing", lol.

| W********m 发帖数: 7793 | 19 Thought process:
if raise turn
if villian has AQ or better, what will he do?
if villian has AK or worse, what will he do?
if call turn
if flush card comes (<20% chance)
if villian has AQ or better, what will he do?
if villian has AK or worse, what will he do?
if call turn
if flush card does not comes
if villian has AQ or better, what will he do?
if villian has AK or worse, what will he do?
assume villian is decent tight player, I think it is safe to assume that he
will not fold turn raise with anything that is AQ+ and but fold most of AK-.
But if we call turn, he is most likely to check call a big bet with most of his top pair on the river without flush card and check fold to most of big bet with flush card.
so we do the following:
call turn. if flush card comes 1) he check, we bet half pot 45-60$ or shove.
2) he bet, we shove.
if flush card does not come 1) he check, we shove.
2) he weak bets, we shove
3) he shoves. oho, probably the only
tough decision here. flip a coin. i would hope it land on a side for calling even though we might lose money more often. | g******s 发帖数: 211 | 20 Nice analysis!
A call on turn is a trap. For favorable river card, hero will get paid
off very well. For unfavorable river card, it still give hero the 2nd
chance
to size up the situation.

| t********t 发帖数: 5415 | 21 my 2c: I'll just call turn. You are way ahead on turn IMO so no need to
scare him away by shoving. | s*********f 发帖数: 155 | 22 I agree.
Calling keeps weak hands in to squeeze out more value. Walk the dog. Utilize
your position. Shoving gives up your positional advantage instantly.
