一行四人4月底出行，非旺季
出行前在PRICELINE BID到的酒店和租车:
Orlando: International Dr.的Double Trees酒店三晚，$65/night
Miami: Downtown的Marriott，$60/night；停车要收费，$26/night。
Key West: 临海大道Roosevelt Blvd上的Travelodge，只有2星，最贵$115/night，
而且房间只有一个Queen-sized bed。
National Car Rental: $15/day Orlando机场取车，在Fort Lauderdale的机场还车，no extra fee。 | Q*****n
发帖数: 146 | 2 DAY 1: 到达Orlanndo
我们是下午的飞机，飞机早到了一个小时，但办完租车手续出来，已经10点半了。我们自带了GARMIN的GPS，GPS settings里头可以设置走不走tollway的。从机场到Orlando最旺的大街International Dr.不算远，高速路也要收费，但都有人工收费，这段路没有自动缴费卡问题都不太大。GPS和自动缴费卡一并都能在租车公司租到，但不建议这样做，下面会详细说来。
Orlando的商店很晚才关门，N多Walmart和CVS都是24小时营业的，两个outlets都是晚上11点打烊，International Dr就更不用说了。之前问过佛州的朋友，发行自动缴费卡有两公司：SUN PASS和EPASS，两者不能通用。SUN PASS最普遍，她说没必要买EPASS的， EPASS用的地方很少。SUN PASS只有在CVS和Publix出售。CVS的价格有一种是$4.99的，一种是$25的。佛州朋友说，$4.99的只能一辆车用，离开了注册那辆车就失效了；而$25的可以换车用，只要卡内有钱就行。

去佛州的主要原因不是Disney，或者其他主题公园。我家二老已经早去过Tokyo和LA的Disney了，LA的Disney和Universal Studio更去过两次，Sea World也去过San Diego那个了，对他们来说早不是什么新鲜事儿，只剩下我家LD没去过Disney。
版上已经有不少精华帖关于Disney的机动游戏项目，我就不一一赘述了。我们去Disney更主要的原因是佛州的朋友说能找到人，三个大人花$120就能进去一天 —— one-day pass，大家可以事先在佛州的craiglist上找找。我们最后选择了EPCOT和Magic Kingdom。Disney不是所有项目都有fast pass，在第一个fast pass没用前，无法再拿到第二个fast pass。EPCOT一般在晚上9点有烟花表演。EPCOT和Magic Kingdom之间由园内的轻轨连接，这两个公园距离很远，不可能步行到达了。
Magic Kingdom在下午3点有大巡游，带孩子的一定要在公园入口的道路两旁先占好位置。不过现在的巡游已经严重缩水了，排场和人数远没有我200 | Q*****n
发帖数: 146 | 4 DAY 3: John F. Kennedy Space Center和outlet
早上开车去距离Orlando一个小时车程的Kennedy Space Center。一路上都是无人收费的tollway了，所以去之前一定要确保SUN PASS已经可以使用了。有个别道路是使用EPASS的，EPASS的一般都有人工收费，问题不大。Kennedy Space Center在一个叫Titusville的海岛上。Kennedy Space Center的门票都是7天内的two-day pass，价格$38，google下有一个$5的coupon。园内的游览分两部分：第一部分是visitor center的步行游览；另一部分是bus tour，bus会带游客去三个地方参观。光bus tour就要消耗掉1个半到2个小时，这个space center的可观性还是蛮强的，只是我们太赶时间了。
经过昨天的Disney和早上的Kennedy Space Cente，我们四个人已经是又累又饿，决定要吃顿好的中餐。佛州朋友推荐在Orlando的金荷苑，广东人开的餐馆，有港式早茶点心和粤菜小炒，味道确实不错，价 | Q*****n

早上10点多到达Orlando的另外一个outlet，又开始新的一轮shopping。卖完东西再去金荷苑吃完午饭，就开车去Miami了。Orlando离Miami大概3个小时的车程，全程都走Florida turnpike。朋友说不走turnpike也行，走I-4也能到，但I-4上太多大型车了，车速不快，时间更长。
Miami我们选择住在downtown是没错了，出了downtown的Miami挺乱的，治安和环境条件等远不及Orlando。Miami downtown离去Miami Beach的大桥非常近，Miami主要旅游景点都在Miami Beach这个城市的。晚上我们去了西班牙风情街Espanola Way。Espanola Way其实是一条很窄很短的街，不能通车的，街上都是饭馆。在Miami Beach的停车都要平行停路边，停车都要付费，费用不算太离谱，停车付费机都接受信用卡。个人不建议在Espanola Way吃饭，现在的Espanola Way上没有一个西班牙餐馆，都是意大利餐，而且超级容易被宰。 | Q*****n

早上我们去了Miami Beach上最美丽的South Miami Beach。South Miami Beach上的又细又软，海水没有海藻，几乎没有什么水腥味。本人觉得South Miami Beach比San Diego的La Jolla Beach要好挺多的。顺带也去了Miami Beach的Collins Ave，Collins Ave也是一条繁华的商业街，店铺种类和牌子都挺多的，Zara、Mango和Club Monaco都有，这两家店我住的这个州都没有，就去逛了一下，收获不大。
中午去了版上大力推荐的古巴餐厅Versailles Restaurant，品尝一下异国菜肴。餐馆内几乎没人说英文的，通行的却是西班牙语。Versailles Restaurant出品的bakery味道也非常不错，物美价廉了。

发帖数: 146 | 7 DAY 6：Everglade National Park & Key West
看地图就知道，Everglade National Park与Big Cypress National Preserve挨的很进，两个visitor centers相距大概35 miles左右。早上在GPS的指引下去Shark Valley Visitor Center，$10/vehicle。一进门就看到路旁的草地上躺着一只alligator在欢迎游客了。建议在这个visitor center租个单车，这个地方trail只有一条路，据说来回20多miles，汽车开不进去，走路也太远了。公园两旁都是沼泽地，N多的alligators在此居住。Alligator心情好了，偶尔爬上岸，晒晒太阳，让游客观赏一下，呵呵。

去之前看精华帖，都说Key West是个巴掌大的小岛，只有两三个景点，没啥看头。相反地，我觉得在Key West呆上一天还是值得的。早上我们先去Ernest Hemingway Home & Museum，门票$12/person，二老一看说好贵啊，也听不懂，我们就没去了。Hemingway Home对面有个white lighthouse，这个也是个Key West Lighthouse Museum，门票$10/person。这些园子面积都不大，但收费还是挺贵的。

我们的回程飞机从Fort Lauderdale起飞的，Fort Lauderdale其实与Miami离得不远，算是飞去Miami的另外一个option吧。我们四人的佛州之行就在Fort Lauderdale Airport宣告结束了。 | x*******i

发帖数: 340 | 12 Orlando有两个Premium Outlets，一个名叫Orlando Premium Outlet，另外一个叫
Premium Outlet at Orlando，名字非常相似，但是不同的两个outlets，据朋友说前者
比后者的outlet面积大，我看其实都差不多，都挺靠近International Dr.。女人嘛，
玩完吃饱了，就要开始血拼啦，哈哈。

this is one of the most informative reviews I've seen
I am actually writing this in the Marriott courtyard on south beach
I bidded this from priceline, 150$/day total. supposedly i thought the beach
location is worth it. but turns out that the weather is so cold and the
beach is only worth enjoying for 2 hours during the day
without the beach south Miami beach is totally not worth it: there are
some (actually a lot of )nice beautiful high rise apartments, but you can
just look at them that's all; the whole area is rather cheesy tourism-
oriented, a lot of Europeans, very commercialized. it's like one of those
factory-made tourism toys: you can buy them anywhere, it's all the same, I
can't find the thing that is unique to south beach
I went to the Mexican restaurant on espaniala on the first night, frankly
the food is not bad, even somewhat good.but each restaurant posts a girl in
the middle of street and aggressively peddle the menu items to tourists,
this makes you very uncomfortable. also at every restaurant we get
automatically charged 17%tip, it's not too high but it doesn't feel right.
today we walked on ocean st and stopped at one restaurant. ( hotel carlye).
and the waitress agressively peddled their "2for1" margarita deal, which
can not share among 2 people, so it's useless unless u drink a whole bucket
of margarita . I just randomly asked how much it is, 25$! apparently
they intentionally try to rip off people cuz they did not print the price
there
the good side: sobe(south beach) has a very frequent south beach local bus
route, it goes around entire sobe, only 25cents. we just took the bus and
rode along the whole route and looked out at the town. frankly it's no
different from a tour bus. at the terminal there is a local grocery store,
publix, we went in and bought some fruits. after coming back to hotel and
resting, we went out to catch the 4:30 route "c" bus and went directly to
downtown. 2$ each
we wandered around and saw a map post, I walked close and found this is one
of those "metromover" lightrail stations, they are free, all elevated, so
we hopped in and rode around the city randomly. another free tour bus. ;).
I would recommend this one even if it charged 10$. it's the same lightrail
as used in airports. it's very interesting to look at a city from above.
Miami got a lot of trees, we were often travelling among treetops
it also got soooooo many high rise apartment buildings, all colored green
and white, I guess the city does not allow other colors. they plant palm
trees on top of high rise buildings!
it feels good to see those fronds swing in damp and cool sunset
we got off around bayfront park and waited for the c bus, but the damn
driver did not stop cuz we did not wave hard enough ---- for people like us
not from city, I guess we have to realize that bus do not stop by default.
in the middle we went to the inter-continental hotel for restroom :)
it was feezing cold. we wore ski jackets and it was not warm
overall, I think miami. and sobe is a good city to live. but tourism is too
commercialized. this actually brings us to a bigger question: how should the
tourism industry work? | c******n

how should the tourism industry work?
as tourists we want to experience something unique to the area, otherwise
there is no point wasting air tickets. but I think the true traveler wants
to see the real life of the locals instead of some fabricated Guang1Xian1
stories made only for tourists. it's like chinatown in sf: just at the gate
the shops are all splashy and expensive and sell almost Americanized
Chinese food, but if you walk in a few blocks and come to where the old
people live, that's their real life
granted that our day to day lives are not that interesting to attract people
, so that we need to creat some more abstract, concentrated version of our
lives , pretty much like how art is created, in this sense , tourists are
really going after some idealized fantasized version of the foreign land.
do they realize this? should the tourism business promote this fantasy ?
oftentimes people feel comfortable living in their fantasy like Americans
like to believe that dalai lama is leading poor Tibetans to win their
freedom
what we see as hawaii today is very much a fabricated image. the happy local
race, the cultural displays, no one mentions that outside people drove away
the locals and owned most of the farms. previously it was a poor farm state
just like arkansas .
the tourism industry needs to make money. yet just having tourists take part
in regular local life is going to offer a consideralbally lower profit
margin. I think one important reason the tourism industry has to peddle
fabricated lives for tourists , is that they have a single image to present
and market, so the amortized marketing cost is lower but this is no longer
true in cimputer age where personalized marketing is possible , like netflix
markets and monetized less popular movies and books
