through USA need US visa (or be a US citizen/resident).
台湾转机 is a different problem, because the document Tong1Xing2Zheng4 you
need is issued by China, and has nothing to do with Taiwan's government. 入
台证 issued by Taiwan is not the problem and not needed in 台湾转机
Thank of it this way, if China declares USA is part of China and USA
government is illegal, so for China citizens who get US visa to US, their US
visa is not acknowleged and invalid in the eyes of China. Instead, China
will issue them a Tong1Xing2Zheng4 to US, and Chinese citizens who don't
have Tong1Xing2Zheng4 will not be allowed to board airplane to US. However,
because USA don't think they belong to China, so they will still ask
Chinese to have US visa issued by USA and don't accept Chinese with only
China-issued TongXingZheng. So as a Chinese passport holder in this
hypothetical scenario, you will need both documents to make this trip. | n****g
