this is exactly what has been happening for so long and that's why
there hasnt been any meaningful cut on anything
so it's a good move for Dr Paul to try to find a way of fighting
the status quo

this is the inherent problem of democracy
which in theory we call it "prisoners' dilemma"
only shortsighted objectives can be delivered in democracy.
anyone who shoots for long term and want to cut off short term benefits
will NOT be elected.
look at the history of Greeks. they have very good democracy,
but never be able to cut off spendings...

the original format of the US system is more of a republic rather than
a democracy system, meaning the country should put the constitution in
the very front and no shortsighted short term decisions by the democracy
process should overule the constitutional principle
if US had followd its constitution all along, it would not have been
in this mess
That's Ron Paul's idea of restoring America by restoring the consititution
and only following the consittution without interferred by those
shortsighted
short term decisions.

发帖数: 21367 | 7 the problem of sticking to constitution is like sticking to Bible or Quran
or whatever. those principles are abstract and cannot evolve with the
advancement of human production rate. Worse, their interpretations are
not univeral among people. You may agree with Ron Paul's interpretation
of constitution, other people may have their opinions.
It is very hard to come down from the abstract constitution to
a real, practical solution that is executable in nowadays America.
i agree with many problems pointed out by Ron Paul. He's brave and smart.
However, i would be conservative about his proposals. Not because of
contradiction in ideology, but because his proposals lack of execution
feasibility... they won't be able be enacted to law, not mention to
design plans (such as budget cut) according to his proposals.
of coz, i think among all GOP candidates, Newt Gingrich's proposals
are the most ridiculus... far worse than Ron Paul's...
