Farewell to Arms: Connecticut Rifle Manufacturer to Leave State
by Jammie
No mention yet as to where they’ll be relocating, but there are are plenty
of friendly states they’ll have to choose from. All power to them.
Rifle manufacturer PTR Industries kept true to its word when it
announced on Tueday it planned to move the growing company out of
Connecticut.
PTR chief exective officer Josh Fiorini told the Republican-American on
the eve of legislature’s vote last week that it planned to move its company
to another state if the new law banned gun hardware. On Tuesday, the
company posted a message on its Facebook page announcing it planned to move.
“On Thursday April 4th 2013, upon reading the full text of Bill 1160,
our worst fears were confirmed,” the company statement read. “What emerged
was a bill fraught with ambiguous definitions, insufficient considerations
for the trade, conflicting mandates, and disastrous consequences for the
fundamental rights of the people of Connecticut.”
“We are making a call to all involved in our industry to leave this
state, close your doors and show our politicians the true consequences of
their hasty and uninformed actions. We encourage those in our industry to
abandon this state as its leaders have abandoned the proud heritage that
forged our freedom,” the statement went on to say.
Of course the anti-gun nuts will merely scoff, but there will be residual
effects. Bottom line, do you suppose anyone will be itching to move into
Connecticut because they’ll feel safer?
While the move is what’s best for PTR, the move is something local
vendors are watching nervously.
Sam Cavallo, owner of CavTech Industries, said if PTR stops buying parts
from his manufactured products company after the move it will effect his
company. Products for PTR make up a third of the business for CavTech,
according to Cavallo.
