发帖数: 642 | 1 WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - DC Police say 58-year-old Jia Mei Tian was charged with
defacing property in the green paint vandalism at Washington National
Cathedral on Monday afternoon.
Assistant Chief Peter Newsham said Tian, of no fixed address, was arrested
in the area of the cathedral Monday after green paint was found splattered
there.
Officials said that green paint was found spattered on the pipe organ
console and casework. The paint was still wet when they discovered it.
The Metropolitan Police Department was immediately notified and they
immediately started investigating.
The National Cathedral is currently closed to the public until further
notice.
In a statement, the Washington National Cathedral spokesperson said, "
Bethlehem Chapel, where the vandalism occurred in the Cathedral's lower
level, is the oldest portion of the Cathedral, completed in 1912. It was the
site of burial rites for President Woodrow Wilson in 1924 and was the
original location of his tomb for more than three decades before he was
permanently interred in a memorial bay bearing his name on the Cathedral's
main level."
WUSA9 reporter Ken Molestina says a second chapel, the Children's Chapel at
the Cathedral has also been vandalized. | A*****a
