Asked if she would invite President Obama to campaign for her if she were
running in a red state, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) bluntly stated, "
Probably not."
McCaskill made the comments during an interview on 'Morning Joe' on MSNBC.
The Missouri Senator cited numerous polls showing Obama's low standing in
key states, "The president's numbers are not strong in my state or in
Arkansas or Louisiana or North Carolina. He did not win those states when he
ran for re-election in 2012."
This is a sharp rebuke from McCaskill, who was praised by Obama during her
reelection campaign in 2012. Obama was quoted that year proclaiming, "I love
Claire McCaskill."
Apparently, the feeling is not so mutual. In the end, even Obama admitted
last week that he would stay away from candidates who are up for reelection
in November. |
