Despite an ongoing temper tantrum from the childish left, support for the
common-sense Keystone XL project continues to poll favorably in overwhelming
numbers. For some strange reason Vacation Boy in the White House still
refuses to give it the green light.
Americans support the idea of constructing the Keystone XL oil pipeline
between Canada and the United States by a nearly 3 to 1 margin, with 65
percent saying it should be approved and 22 percent opposed, according to a
new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
The findings also show that the public thinks the massive project, which
aims to ship 830,000 barrels of oil a day from Alberta and the northern
Great Plains to refineries on the Gulf Coast, will produce significant
economic benefits. Eighty-five percent say the pipeline would create a
significant number of jobs, with 62 percent saying they “strongly”
believed that to be the case.
At the same time, nearly half of those interviewed — 47 percent — say
they think Keystone will pose a significant risk to the environment.
That so many Americans back the pipeline, even with environmental risks,
highlights the quandary facing President Obama and his top aides as they
weigh whether to approve the proposal.
Several poll participants interviewed this week said they are convinced
the pipeline represents the safest way to transport the oil the United
States needs from a reliable ally, Canada. But a liberal minority — most of
whom strongly support the president — said it will deepen the country’s
dependence on fossil fuels and exacerbate climate change.
They have no evidence at all to support the absurd claim it will exacerbate
non-existent climate change and it will be a huge help to the stagnant
economy. But Obama is hostage to the environmental lunatics so he’ll find
some reason to not support it. You would think a guy with a 38% approval
rating would see the logic in supporting the project but he’s more
interested with his next tee time. To get an idea how deranged the frothing
opponents are, just have a look at the first comment at the link. There’s
no reaching such supreme idiocy:
The bad news is that the Keystone XL pipeline will create only 50
permanent jobs, and probably destroy the environment along it’s proposed
route, but the good news is that the Koch brothers will triple their total
worth by hundreds of billions of dollars after the pipeline is built. They
will have so much money they will be able to easily buy our Democracy and
install Kochmmunism in it’s place. People from all walks of life will run
for Congress so they can benefit from the Koch brothers largesse.
Kochmmunism? Really? |
