我的反驳:
Net neutrality is in alignment with all other democratic agendas like
bathroom neutrality. I consider this article a leftist propaganda, in that
it assumes net neutrality is 100% good without explaining to the reader what
net neutrality actually is or explaining what its pros and cons are (as a
PhD in computer science, I totally believe some explanation is deserved). We
've been having net neutrality like since the beginning of time and have
never been given a choice, or informed what the cost is. But like every coin
has two sides, net neutrality also comes with a cost, hidden and
potentially huge. Let me give you two simple examples: 1. ~30% (not exact,
but should be > 10% according to various sources from Google) of Internet
traffic is porn. This traffic is charged with the same price as all other
data. And there's bandwidth-hungary BitTorrent with massive illegally shared
content. 2. One byte of video content is charged the came price as one byte
of textual content, while the latter has much more information and costs
much more to produce. These two examples are what I consider wrong in the
current system. Also as net neutrality is against market competition, we
could have been paying a big monetary price overhead for our Internet
service because of this. Whether an alternative system is overall beneficial
needs closer scrutiny and debate, and I have to admit that I know too
little to make a conclusion, but I'm glad the issue is brought up. I've been
closely following Trump's campaign and his policies. I don't think he's
someone with no common sense and cannot be reasoned. I remain optimistic. |
