people, Puzder employed an undocumented worker as a housekeeper for a while.
He fessed up last week. This is a scandal for one or two nominees for
seemingly every new president; some get through, some don’t. Compounding it
, though, are newly released details of a 1990 episode of The Oprah Winfrey
Show during which Puzder’s ex-wife made some startling allegations about
abuse by Puzder. The ex-wife, Lisa Fierstein, later recanted her allegations
, saying she put them forward to gain a leg up in divorce proceedings. But
the episode certainly has not helped his nomination.
Puzder's support for immigration reform, too, had been drawing heat from
conservatives.

President-elect George W. Bush is searching a new for a labor secretary
after the withdrawal of his nominee, Linda Chavez, due to her controversial
relationship with an undocumented immigrant.
Chavez withdrew from consideration Tuesday, saying the storm over the then-
illegal immigrant she housed in the early 1990s had become too much of a
distraction.
"I am deeply sorry for any embarrassment I may have caused George W. Bush,"
she said today on Good Morning America.
"I made a very big mistake and I paid a very big price for it," she added. "
The issue was that I should have remembered it more clearly. I should have
been more forthcoming about it. I put them in a very difficult position."
The FBI, which conducts background investigations on all Cabinet appointees,
was examining the circumstances surrounding Chavez's arrangement with Marta
Mercado, a Guatemalan immigrant who was housed and financially supported by
Chavez for two years while living illegally in the United States.
At issue was whether or not Chavez violated federal laws against harboring
and employing undocumented immigrants.

其他人也不清不楚，大家盯劳工部长盯得更紧而已。非移早就是米国人生活的一部分，
和党高层心知肚明。。。白右真正关心的是米帝高薪工作外移他国，以及外来的高技术
人才抢了本国人的饭碗
