When CNN reporter Jim Acosta challenged Spicer to give an example of “fake
news,” the presidential spokesman cited tweets by BBC and Politico
reporters that appeared over the May 27-28 weekend that claimed that Trump
was not following the translation of a speech at NATO headquarters by the
Italian prime minister. When Spicer said that Trump used the same earpiece
previous presidents have utilized to follow the Italian leader’s remarks,
Acosta replied that “reporters make mistakes.” Peter Baker of The New York
Times interjected and accused Spicer of blowing the incident out of all
proportion.
“Your trip was all over the front page,” Baker said. “You're making
something out of one tweet instead of the vast majority of coverage.” | d******y
