I've been a Republican professor on Democrat campuses in California for
almost a decade and a half. I'm not a Democrat and never have been, so I don
't have that to #Walkaway from, but I want to walk to you and encourage you.
This page--I am impressed with this page and these stories you all have
shared. What you're experiencing is the beginning of an exciting journey, a
learning process that I wish all my students could start with.
I have been surrounded by Democrats in Lost Angeles as a professor of
philosophy and politics for about a decade and a half. I have seen first-
hand what they have done to the campuses. The campuses that are funded by
tax money. The campuses you pay for. I have seen what they have done to that
treasured institution. Democrats hire me, evaluate me, they are my
colleagues, my bosses, my students. They often expect grade inflation as
students, having been socialized to be that way by a Democrat culture of
laziness and entitlement, one that doesn't read and isn't curious. Democrats
mandate grade inflation as administrators and colleagues. Whatever keeps
complaints down makes them happy. High grades for no work keeps complaints
down. Yes, they do inflate grades. I have had a Chair actually change a
grade simply because the student didn't want a C-. That happened at Loyola
Marymount last year. I've been pressured to inflate grades at multiple
institutions over the years. The students evaluate the professors. Whomever
evaluates you is your boss. That is an analytic, eternal truth. But students
evaluate professors. What do students want? They want high grades and low
work. And they don't want to be offended. Thinking can be offensive for some
. Democrats encourage students to be offended whenever they want to be
offended. Over time, that is what they get. This is ever since the New Left
took over the campuses in the 1970s. And now you have places like Pepperdine
inflating grades--yes, they pressured me to inflate grades. At Cal State, a
group of students tried to get me fired because they scored low on the
midterm that they didn't study for. The Democrat Chair there sided with the
students. I won't tell you which CSU that was but it was in the Valley. That
's why students graduate without knowing anything besides how to be a
Democrat. The Republicans are run off of campuses if at all possible. And if
you don't inflate grades--which is what they want--if you ask them to think
, and learn, and to understand, all reasonable requests, these are taken as
oppression, and are suppressed. At taxpayer expense. They recoil in shock
when they hear I'm a Republican.
I've been harassed and mocked by my colleagues and bosses for being
Republican.
Higher Education is a Democrat-Indoctrination, Grade Inflation Plantation.
At tax payer expense. But that is going to stop.
It's going to stop because you exist, and you can make it stop. You can help
make the campuses great again. They were for learning, once. They can be
once again.
I have taught 181 college and university courses in Lost Angeles. And yes,
it is Lost. That's why I call it Lost Angeles. For most of my students, I am
the only Republican professor they have ever met or ever will meet who is
out of the closet.
Now, just think about that.
I ask my students, if 90% of your professors were Republicans, would that be
education or indoctrination? They all say indoctrination. Why? Because it's
one view. Whether it's on purpose or not, intentional or not, that's one
view. So I point out that 90% of your professors typically are Democrats or
Socialists. And they hate Republicans. They hate Republicans. Hate them. Is
that a situation conducive to learning ?
They say no. Some say yes. But mostly they crinkle their brow. They've never
thought about that before.
The House of Representatives has the authority to initiate spending of tax
money. Any federal education money, be it loans or direct grants, needs the
approval of the body to which your Congress member belongs. It needs their
vote.
Then I ask my students whether a Democrat-controlled Congress should fund a
higher education plantation run entirely by Republicans for years. For
decades. Why should they do that, if it were that way? Would you tell your
Congress member they should fund a Republican controlled Higher Education
system that inflates grades and coddles entitlement? Should they continue to
fund a system that discriminates against them at taxpayer expense?
And you know what they all say? They say, hell no the Congress shouldn't
fund Republican indoctrination in that situation.
And I say, but it's that way now, just the other way around. Democrats
control Higher Ed, where the only thing Higher about it is all the drugs and
the grades that weren't earned. They take your tax money for granted.
And they discriminate against Republicans.
So, you just made an argument for entirely defunding colleges across the
land. Republicans control Congress. Democrats control Higher Education,
which needs Congress. Higher Education just indoctrinates people to vote
against Republicans. That's like the one thing colleges are good at right
now. You know that, right?
It's like they never thought about it before.
Republicans are the only political party in history that systematically
funds the opposite party. Colleges are a tax-funded arm of the DNC. I've
seen it first-hand.
Whether it's a Logic class at a Community College or a Constitutional Law
course at Cal State, or an Ethics class at Pepperdine, or a Philosophical
Inquiry class at LMU, it's me, up there, at the front of the class,
assigning them reading, not inflating their grades--and getting punished for
it by Democrats--its me, the only professor they have had who doesn't give
a damn about campus crazy bull crap. Who stands up to it. It's me asking
them to open their minds and to read and to learn.
So, #Walkaway people, I feel you. I know what it's like to do something you'
re not supposed to do. You're not supposed to be a Republican in Lost
Angeles. You're not supposed to be a Republican professor, or a student
either.
But who made up that dumb rule?
Why should we follow that dumb rule?
Why should anyone follow that dumb rule?
When you have an institution like Education that affects so many of the
future citizens, and it's controlled by one political party to the exclusion
of the other, that's not good. It's not good for America. It's not good for
the students. It's no wonder they lean Democrat. It's the default. It's
easy to be a Democrat.
They wake up, they are Democrat. It's like turning a computer on.
It's hard to be a Republican on campus.
So, I know. I've been in a sea of Democrats, on the crazy campuses (which
you pay for) which they have destroyed. They have destroyed the campuses,
and will continue to do so, and to indoctrinate students with no
accountability, until they can't do it anymore. Until they can't because
they've been convinced otherwise, or they don't have any more of your tax
money to continue with their mind-control, cultural monopoly-experiment
across the land in "higher" ed.
This is me walking toward you with open arms as you #Walkaway.
You are making a difference.
American needs you.
I need you.
There are many students out there who want something different. Something
better. We owe it to ourselves and to them to keep plugging along.
Thank you. Good night.
P.S. I'm not Russian. I am a Native American. I am native to no where else,
because I was born here.
P.S.S. America is worth fighting for.
