One item I would recommend students about to enter the workforce do is to
watch a few episodes of #survivor. It is one of the closest examples of the
corporate world that I can think of. Here is why?
* Talented people instantly get voted off the island because they are seen
as a threat. Yes, this is exactly what happens in large corporate
bureaucracies. This is why I recommend spending time working on a "meta-
layer" vs all your eggs just on your current job.
* If you don't have emotional intelligence you are voted off the island
* Avoid BPO (Business Prevent Officers), i.e. MBAs, Lawyers, Middle Managers
and stay off their radar. They want to pull into their web and trap you
* Build an alliance (a network) and use it at a meta-layer, i.e. across your
career vs getting sucked into a Prisoner's Dilemma of your current job
Another thing they don't teach you in school :)

Great example of #america in a nutshell. Ari Emanuel of the #ufc makes
308M, yet fighters often earn 10K for a fight that can result in later brain
damage through CTE. The system is rigged for explotation since these same
UFC fighters cannot get health care after they are fired for losing. Not
that far off from Roman Gladiators and this is 2022.
如何保护自己：
One thing you don't typically learn in school because many teachers have not
had a real job is to "design for failure". Everything fails eventually,
your boss could get swapped out, your company could hire a "jerk" co-worker,
and the next job you get could have a horrible boss. These are all non-
deterministic events. The only solution is to build a meta-layer on top.
Build assets on top of all jobs: #opensource #sidegig #certifications #books
