There is no need for her to mention her visit to see
you in California during the visa interview. Just
focus on attending school in Boston. F-1 visa holders
are normally allowed to enter the U.S. through any
port of entry. When she arrives in SF, she should be
prepared to show to the CBP inspector her travel
itinerary to Boston after visiting with you in SF.

her visiting with me to CBP inspector? |

SF to Boston before she comes to the U.S., so that
she can show the CBP inspector that her ultimate
destination is Boston.
When she is being inspected by the CBP officer at
the airport, answer only what is asked. No need
to volunteer information. If she is asked, tell
the truth that she is stopping in SF to see you
or friend(s).
