想了解美国品牌的两款家用电热水器，
一是Bradford White(白浪);
二是A.O.SMITH(史密斯)；
这两个品牌在中国都有销售。白浪品牌是全进口的，而史密斯是中国南京生产（引进美
国技术）的。
想问，大家对这两款热水器了解吗？两款相比，哪款质量好些（用电，不是用燃气型号
的）。
不知道在美国house里的热水器都是用的哪一种？ 请大家推荐。 谢谢！ | g*****9

anode. (or buy the cheap and replace with a good anode during installation)

Most home in US use a tank type storage water heater, which means usually 30
to 50 gallons of water is heated to a temp you set and stored in a tank
ready to use. (this type can use either gas and electric as heat source)
And let me give you some example of the water heater I have put into my
houses in China.
1. In Guang Zhou, very hot weather, house is a villa style (Single Family in
US), I put in solar water heater system (collector on the roof), 80 gallon
storage tank (circulate pump turns on during the day time). A tankless
heater will heat water if storage run out or raise the temp more in winter
on demand. (Installed in the attic) [Hooked up in series]
2. In Bei Jing, usually cold, (Multi-Family or townhouse in US) a hybrid
system. Built-in small storage water reservoir as part of heat exchanger (
typically between two gallons to 20 gallons) Dual activation: flow sensing
and thermostat control. Installed in the basement. I also installed a heat
recovery unit on waste water (drain) [only one unit, but you can think of it
as in series]
3. In Shanghai,mild weather I guess. I bought a place last year(going to be
my main home away from home for the next several years). Since this place is
large (I have to buy 6 units to make into one big unit to fit our large
family, it span 3 levels), so more like US high rise condo setting. I use 3
heat pump water heater, they have a timer you can program to run during
night (off peak electricity is only half price). So 90% of the time they
only need to run between 10PM and 6am to heat up water very hot, they are
installed on the outside of the "home" (called inside patio in chinese terms
if you know what I mean, there is dual sliding doors between inside the
house and outside) [hooked up in parallel and so far they only need to run
in heat pump mode 99.99 % of the time, I only see it using back up heating
coil only once when it is very very cold outside]. This is the most
intelligent unit as it is hooked up to my home automation system and I can
monitor verything on screen. It learns from my usuage pattern and auto
adjust the water temp based on cold water temp and a few other factors.

发帖数: 4125 | 17 One unit means I only have one heater in the system.
Basically each heater (also called tankless waterheater, instantaneous
waterheater, ondemand waterheater, they are the same thing) can only water
temp based the flow rate. Say you get one that can raise the water temp by
10 degree at the flow rate of 4 gallon per minute, which means it can raise
water temp by 20 degree at flow rate of 2 gallon per min, or raise water
temp by 40 degree at flow rate of 1 gallon per min.
So depending on your application (required temp raise and flow rate), you
need to pick out what is best for you. Maybe put 2 small units in series
works the best, since winter water temp is cooler than summer water temp.
You can turn one off in the warmer month.
I choose to have a little tank (2 gallon) put in to make a hybrid system so
I don't have to wait for hot water, since a little pump is constantly
circulating the water, I get hot water within 1 second of turning on, if I
don't have this little tank, I will not get hot water maybe 30 seconds later
, which waste maybe a gallon of the water each time (depending the length of
the pipe). Yes the heater will come on when it sense flow and once a while
to maintain the temp in the 2 gallon tank.
