Senior Solutions Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Enterprise Applications
STATUS: Full-time/Regular/Exempt
JOB OBJECTIVE:
The Enterprise Applications team works across the Technology & Operations
corporate area to design scalable and flexible integration solutions that
support Broadcast and Enterprise Systems workflows.
The Senior Solutions Engineer collaborates with product team and business
users throughout PBS to build and maintain system integration workflows in a
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Participate in all the phases of the software development lifecycle,
including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment,
and production support.
Collaborate with product team, other teams, business users, and vendors to
design and support new and existing applications, products, and tools.
Design and implement software application components using Java.
Design and implement SOAP or REST-based Web services.
Design and implement complex enterprise integrations with industry standard
technologies.
Design and implement custom web applications.
Design and implement automated tests to improve software quality and
productivity.
Execute enhancement initiatives and bug fixes regarding existing
configuration and customization artifacts.
Manage production deployments, including documentation of technical
specifications.
Provide accurate work estimates, track individual progress, and communicate
status to keep development on schedule.
Continuously look for ways to improve business process, development, and
operational initiatives.
Provide production support and troubleshooting.
Respond promptly and professionally to support tickets.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
7 years’ work experience performing application and platform development in
a high-availability media environment. An equivalent combination of
education and experience may be considered.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in system engineering, computer science, or related field
. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
TECHNICAL SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Experience in Agile Scrum and development of continuous integration and test
driven development environments
Hands-on experience implementing end-to-end solutions from planning to
development and delivery
Experience developing complex system integrations in an ESB/BPM environment
(preferably Talend)
Experience with Spring, Apache Camel, Maven, ActiveMQ, Zookeeper, and Karaf
Experience designing, developing, and consuming SOAP and REST Web Services
is essential; familiarity with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) design
principles
Expertise in object oriented Java development
Working knowledge of SQL, XML, JSON, XSD, XSLT, and WSDL
Experience with web presentation layer technologies like HTML5, CSS,
JavaScript/JQuery, AJAX
Experience with relational databases, as well as No-SQL and/or Graph
databases
Excellent understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
