R*******n 发帖数: 428 | 1 I have Windows XP Service Pack 2. I can view Chinese on my machine
without problem, even input Chinese (with Google Pinyin). The problem
is that whenever I install software from China (such as QQ, Tom对弈,
迅雷 etc.), it cannot show Chinese fonts in the menu. All the menu
are in squares. I did go through the proper regional settings,
settings->Regional and Language Options,
and select Chinese(PRC) as the preference for numbers, dates etc. I
even tried to selected Location as China once (not helpful, and I
set it back to US). I still cannot view the menu of Chinese software.
The problem I see is that it is having problem accessing some fonts.
The reason I say this is that when I select Chinese (PRC) as my
preference for numbers and dates, they don't show proper Chinese
characters (such as the Yuan sign, a Y with 2 horizontal bars),
and year, month, day don't show properly either. The strange thing
is, I have exactly the same system at work (Windows XP Service pack
2). It can show everything properly. Can anyone here help me solve
this mystery. It is greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much.

Settings -> Regional and Langugage Options
1649 | 5 change system locale to Chinese

Thanks for the reply.
I have mentioned in my first message that I have tried to change system
locale to China, it didn't help. Besides, my work place machine works
perfectly without changing the locale to China. 在你贴图里面,advanced - language for non-unicode
programs 改成chinese(PRC),languages - supplemental language support点上
install files for east asian languages,重启,就可以了。

| a*********7 发帖数: 30080 | 11 是在Regional and Language Options里面,不过不是numbers, dates etc,是
Language for non-Unicode programs,
