考虑一下自己的career了。目前这个公司还算大(over 10,000 people)，各方面与我第
一份工作差不多，比较习惯，就是觉得要往上，要看seniority比较多，不知道什莫时
候才能混个manager/supervisor当当。
想过上MBA，读general management，但是又看到讨论说MBA是professional degree，
实践经验更重要，也就是说对已经在当manager/supervisor的人比较管用，可以再往上
爬。而对于我这样的，没有什莫extensive的管理经验，似乎用处不大。
大家说说是不是这样？我又对当manager/supervisor很有兴趣，几乎作为工作唯一的目
标，怎麽办？能不能读了MBA加上5年的工作经验去找manager/supervisor的职位？谢谢

even money wise, it's not easy to find/keep a well paid mid-level manager's
position (actually, much harder than engineers). a friend lost hers (10+
years of mid-upper management in a big company) and is still hunting for a
new one even after months. there're just not that many of these jobs, and
some are already taken by internal ppl (promotions).

do day to day. I have in-depth understanding of the technical aspects, but
don't want to dwell deeply into it(like writing codes, running the
simulations)-I want somebody else to do it and I do the review and
discussion. And I like administrative stuff, dealing with people and project
from high grounds.
If MBA is so not helpful, I wonder why people pay a lot money to get the
piece of education? Are all of them planning

纸爬上去，你看看公司老板有多少是MBA就知道了，好些还是当了头儿以后去念来装点
门面的。对于很多人，其实是个迷思，或者投资失败。
MBA的那些课程其实一点不神秘，书店里又贵又滞销的书一般都是MBA的“指定教材”。
很多核心课程都是教点初级会计，营销概念，一堆看上去很美的案例教学，说实话，也
就是象牙塔里嚼舌头的东西。老中很多去念MBA的，其实和在公司里的境遇是类似的，
发言靠后站，提问装傻，写报告英文吃紧，人家1小时洋洋洒洒，典故信手拈来，老中
熬夜GOOGLE，还语法连篇小错。也就是考某些技术类课程成绩好点，比如数据分析，数
据库概论之类的。
有人可能要说MBA的人脉是很大财富，其实这个也是夸大了，Business Week几年前做过
追踪调查N所顶尖名校毕业几年后的情况，实际情况和刻板印象大相径庭。这其实也不
难理解，彼此都是自身摸着石头过河的人，交情也就那么深，偶尔特殊情况拉一把有可
能，过一阵各奔东西，搞不好还是竞争对手(上课倒是教teamwork哟，呵呵)...还是拿

发帖数: 1831 | 7 嗯，还是从技术入手，先做管技术的supervisor, 然后再考虑manager,
director比较实际一些。公司里面的各式upper management都很能长篇大论
的说冠冕堂皇的话，去钻研一下toast master可能还更有帮助。

发帖数: 325 | 9 楼主不要还是不要读了。你现在的薪水应该也不低，读了mba出来，没有管理经验，薪
水估计也涨不了多少，大公司直接招没有管理经验的mba 做manager的也不多吧。不如
现在争取做个project manager之类的，或者尽量找机会带junior，慢慢升。

我在美国公司当过经理, 但和MBA没有任何关系,
机会而已.
中国人读MBA, 主要是转行有用, 比如向往华尔街的.
