I got my new job offer in Mid June. Today I checked online my H1B transfer
has been approved. Now the last problem will be my starting date, which on
the offer letter was "mutual agreement after the visa being approved".
Before I go to talk to the new firm, I want to ask you guys which options
might work.
I will have my annual bonus coming up on July 31. But I also want to start
my new job asap, because I don't want to keep them waiting. Since I still
have 14 vacation days in current fi |

the new company ASAP. There is no need waiting for the final approval. |

My question now is more about taking vacation in my current firm to work for
the new firm until the bonus coming out and then take unpaid leave in the
new firm to give the current firm notice.

illegal here (even if you don't leave 2 weeks). Talk to your new company.
They will understand. Are you sure you can get the bonus on 7/31? |

it all depends on your current company's bonus policy, some companies still
give bonuses (pro-rated) even the guy quits/gets laid off before the bonus
date.
personally, if i were you, i'd not do the tricks as you mentioned, it's
indecent and could turn out to be ugly (even you do get it). you don't want
to risk ruining your reputation at the current and new companies.
i'd rather set the starting date in early aug., and turn my 2-week notice
around mid j

my current company is a 200-people firm, kind of small. The owner decides
the money issue like this. As a private company like this, I doubt he will
be willing to give partial bonus.
Is two-months for a company from giving offer and to actually having the new
hire on board normal?

但是根据我的理解，你一旦用了TRANSFER的H1B给新雇主工作了，
你就不能在为其他雇主工作了。
H1B是雇主申请的，原则上，不能在不之会当前雇主的前提下，为其他雇主工作。 |

it's just bad timing for you, even you try your tricks and are still "
physically" working at the current company, say, around 8/15, god knows when
the actual bonus date will be? (e.g., 8/20? first pay period in sept? ...)
by then (8/15), your current boss will know you're leaving, so you'll still
face the same issue (will your boss be mad and take off your bonus?) like
now.
and it will give you a bad start at the new compan

Everybody paid at his anniversary month.
That's why I am also sure that there will be bonus because I asked people
paid around this time. They all get bonus the same as last year or a little
higher.

是可以工作的. 可以同时给多个单位工作, 只要他们都帮你申请了h1

she said they were shooting for 8/2. She would like to ask my boss. I told
her that I am OK with it if he really wants me to start on 8/2.
Would my offer be cancelled? Sigh. There are always something to worry about.
