The list of companies that have disciplined or fired employees for
downloading or e-mailing pornography or off-color jokes continues to grow.
The New York Times, Merck, Smith Barney, Xerox, and Edward Jones have all
had cases.
At one company, 19 employees were fired for refusing to admit they
circulated offensive e-mail. The company used electronic tracing to track
them down. Another 41 employees who came forward and admitted their
involvement were disciplined |
