这个race虽然人少一些,只有1400人左右,但都是附近的铁竿runners,所以都很能跑.
你想,一般没事随便跑跑的人,最多参加一个5000米跑,不会跑万米的.
地点在本地IBM campus,可以说是个Tour de campus.天气不错,跑了55'47'',
平均正好9分钟一mile.在一千四百多号人里排名711.第一名是个肯尼亚小伙子,
跑了29'03,比第二名快了四分多钟,非人类啊.
基本对自己的进步还比较满意.希望半年后能跑到48分钟左右.

当年我主要跑400米的,只有94年登山前和老苗一起在东操训练跑了一次万米,
大概是42分钟吧.10年前了.不过我相信过个一年半载的还是有可能跑到40分钟
左右的.

I started to do some running as well. But my knees aren't feeling very good...
You guys don't have this kind of problems?

I don't...probably because I play soccer games every weekend.
我也觉得体力现在比读大学时候差了不少,
就是比一两年前都差,
看来不经常练练不行啊.

A few things to check:
1. Make sure you do stretching
2. don't start running too far, too fast, too soon.
3. for running, you need to ware running shoes, not tenis shoes, not cross
training shoes.
4. never run on concrete sidewalk, try to run on softer surface, even run on
asphalt (road) is better than sidewalk. Trails, tracks are good.
5. are you overweight at the moment?

I did most of you what you suggested, but mostly running on machines instead
of trail. I doubt if my knees get hurt a little bit from jumping/falling down
from bouldering problems recently.

He is ONLY a human. A better performance comes from a better preparation.
It's STUPID to compare yourself to others!!!
Do it ONLY for yourself!
Joy comes only when you become better than yourself, not anybody else.

No, I do it just for fun, hehe.
It's fun to go out and run a few miles, it's fun to take part in a race
and it's fun to read the result and check my ranking. And of cause it's
fun to check back and see my own progress, for example, I am almost 5 minutes
per mile slower than the fastest guy, next time, maybe I am only 4 minutes
slower than the winner of the race, you get the idea.
