There is currently a 20% off any one item coupon floating around the
internets at those wonderfully seedy places us slickdealers love to acquire
them.
The coupon states that it is not valid for the purchase of desktop or laptop
computers. Per a chat I had with Staples support (see attached) the Xoom is
not a desktop or laptop computer and is thus eligible for the 20% coupon.
Go to an in-store kiosk and purchase the Xoom. Make sure you select the
option to pay at the register. At the register, the 20% off coupon will be
rejected if scanned. Feel free to use my transcript or one of your own as
evidence that the Xoom is not defined as a desktop or laptop computer. From
there, the manager can override (my receipt shows Price Guarantee on the 20%
discount) and you're home free.
