发帖数: 60932 | 1 Dollar is having a promotion for $1/day to rent mid-size car between 04/29
and 6/24. If you want to drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco this will
be a great deal, especially for a few people going together. The distance is
around 350 miles, which is about a tank of gas. I'll put a rough estimate
comparison between air and rental car:
Rental car:
Car rental: $1/day + tax ~ $3/day
Parking at LAX if you drive your car and park at LAX: $6/day
Gas: $60/tank
So basically, you'll pay $9/day for car rental + parking. If you have
someone drop you off over there, you'll pay $3/day
Fly
Airline ticket: $80/person (a cheap ticket)
Car rental when you get there: $15-$20/day
You'll end up paying more for the car rental up there than the car you rent
in LAX. You'll save at least the cost of an airline ticket per person.The
longer you stay and the more people go, you'll save much more.
You must pick the car from the following places:
Phoenix (PHX)
Tucson (TUS)
Ontario (ONT)
Palm Springs (PSP)
Los Angeles (LAX)
San Diego (SAN)
Drop off at one of these places:
San Francisco (SFO)
Oakland (OAK)
San Jose (SJC)
Sacramento (SMF)
I just booked mine. I'll have 5 people going so that's an easy saving of $
400 or more if the airplane ticket is $80 (that's a cheap)
