This lens went on sale last year and the MSRP as stated in the Pentax press
release was $200. However, everyone charged higher than that ($220+). It
seems to settle into the sub $200 price earlier this year and was actually @
$178 a couple weeks ago at Amazon, but the price has slowly increased back
to almost $190. From what I've seen, this is the lowest price I've come
across since the lens was released last year.
The reviews I've read have raved about the IQ and the sharpness at pretty
much every f/stop (though the sharpness seems to be superb at f/4 and above)
. You can achieve handheld indoor photography with an ISO 400-800 @ 1/60 and
some source of lighting (be it through a window or from a light fixture).
For us New Yorker's, Adorama charges tax. I've been looking around for a
retailer that doesn't charge NY tax and has the lens in stock (which
excluded Newegg), and found Abe's of Maine to have it in stock, but I couldn
't find anything about a price matching policy.
