Box for FREE download via its Origin client to anyone who logs in from a UK
IP address.
Regular price on the game is $20 USD.
Although I've seen this mentioned in broad strokes in various sites, no one
has authored an easy, step-by-step process for adding the game to your
account. So I figured I'd post one.
HOW TO GET THE DEAL: -- Burnout Paradise
1) Download the Origin client and install it: Link:
http://www.origin.com
2) If you do not have an Origin account, sign up for one.
3) Make sure your account is fully registered within Origin.
4) Log out of Origin.
5) Download Expat Shield and install it: Link:
http://expatshield.com
6) Start Expat Shield. Verify you are using a UK IP address.
7) Start Origin and log in via the client. -- NOTE, if you cannot log in to
Origin at this point, your computer is behind a firewall that is blocking
access when combined with the VPN. You'll need to use a different net
connection.
8) Search for Burnout Paradise.
9) Add Burnout Paraside to your cart.
10) When you get to the Payment screen, ignore the section with the credit
card details. Scroll down to the bottom where you see the price in pounds
and a section for the promo code.
11) Enter PARADISE in the promo code box and click Apply. The price should
change to 0.00 and the payment entry/credit card fields will disappear.
12) On the page which asks for shipping details, you will need to fill out
EVERY FIELD with the exception of apartment number. It doesn't really matter
what you put here.
13) Before finalizing the purchase, you have the option to change the
language of the download. Set it to whatever you prefer. It defaults to
English (UK).
14) Finalize the purchase and the game will immediately display in your
Origin account. You can download it from there as well as get the serial key
. EA will also email you a receipt with the key a few minutes later.
15) Log out of Origin.
16) Close Expat Shield.
HOW TO GET THE DEAL: -- FIFA Manager 12 Live Season
Repeat the above process, expect you need to use MANAGER as the promo code
for the FIFA updates.
NOTE: Live Season is a roster update service for FIFA Manager 12. If you don
't own FIFA, it's pretty worthless. Only noting it here in case some folks
might have a use for it.
FAQ
A) What is Expat Shield?
Expat Shield is a free, ad-supported, browser based VPN which gives you a UK
IP.
B) Do I need to keep it installed?
No. You can uninstall Expat Shield as soon as you've finished the purchase.
C) Do I have to install the Origin client?
Yes. The discount code will NOT work via the website. Only the client store.
D) Why does it say the code is not valid?
You either do not have Expat Shield running (not a UK IP) or you are trying
to use the web store instead of the client store.
E) Why can't I finalize the purchase? Origin seems stuck on the shipping
page.
You need to fill in the ZIP code field. It is not listed as mandatory, but
the system won't let you proceed without it.
F) When do the deals expire?
As of the time of this writing, both deals are LIVE. That said, both deals
EXPIRE at 11:59PM GMT on 11/17/2011. That's just over 25 hours from now.
