-mobile on monday asking about the new HTC HD7 that was released this week,
and what data plan it requires. I was told by a customer rep starting
November 14th, T-mobile will launch a new data plan, $9.99 200MB data plan.
They told me all phones would be eligible for this plan including
smartphones. From what I was told this plan was originally $24.99 for 200MB
per month, and unlimited data is $30 a month. So this will save you $360
over a 24 month contract term. Just for comparison, I believe Verizon
charges $14.99 for just 150MB with much higher overage fees.
This new $9.99 data plan rate makes owning a smartphone much more reasonable
for those that cant justify paying $25 a month for just 200MB, and dont
need the $30 unlimited data plan, who also have access to wifi. I just
thought I would share what the customer rep told me, this is the cheapest
smartphone data plan Im aware of. Oh yeah during the call I also got my 2
line cell phone plan upgraded to Myfaves on each line without extending my
contract. Myfaves is unlimited calling to any 5 phones numbers in the U.S.
Heres an article I found backing up what the customer rep told me on the
phone about the new data plan-
quote
Many of you hate the fact that T-Mobile requires a data plan on smartphones
purchased with a contract and that the data plan cannot be removed for the
life of your contract. Although Magenta wont be removing the requirement,
our trusted sources tell us that T-Mobile will be introducing a new data
plan option for smartphone owners. Instead of paying the current $30
Unlimited Data per month, customers will have the option to get 200MB of
data for just $9.99 per month. Our ninjas tell us that the plan will be made
available starting late November and customers who enroll in the $9.99 data
plan and realize theyre using more than 200MB, will be able to upgrade to
the Unlimited Data plan if they desire. |
